Both laminate flooring and vinyl flooring are moderately priced. They are equally easy for do-it-yourselfers to install. Laminate and vinyl have a similar look.

All laminate floors are joined using a built-in locking mechanism. For a laminate floor, you need to lay an underlay below. That is known as a floating floor system, so there is no need for glue or nails. This makes installing laminate floors a potential DIY job.
